fike fire suppression

FIRE, EXPLOSION AND PROCESS SOLUTIONS. Fike is a globally recognized supplier of products and services that protect people and critical assets from dangers such as fire, explosion and over-pressurization. Fike manufactures solutions for a wide variety of industries and offers products ranging from rupture discs and explosion protection systems to fire suppression systems, fire alarm panels and oil and gas products for improving drilling and well completion.

Clarke's backdraft dampers

Clarke’s Explosion Backdraft dampers are activated automatically in the event of an explosion to prevent the backflow of fire-laden air in the system. These unique backflow dampers are equipped with pressure sensitive diaphragms designed to rupture at a pre-determined pressure increase, thus venting the pressurized air to the atmosphere. They feature heavy duty welded steel construction.

air blender spark cooler

The SPARK COOLER® is a patented technology that revolutionizes spark abatement in process applications. It uses air not water to mitigate sparks and fires in dust collection systems, saving time, money, and resources. The SPARK COOLER is the most effective method currently available for reducing the risk of dust collection systems fires from sparks generated in metal processing and various other applications.

The presence of sparks is a significant problem in the filtration of combustible particles. A spark gets buoyancy from a surrounding bubble of hot air and often moves along uninterrupted in a flow stream.  Like a hot air balloon with its cargo, it moves along at the same velocity as the gas stream until the spark hits the filter media. At the filter, the hot air gets stripped from the “balloon” and the spark is deposited on the filter media surface. Normally, the spark will self-extinguish before it can ignite a fire. However, if the spark is hot enough to ignite the media, the filtration system will likely be compromised. Therefore, designing an exhaust/filtration system that minimizes the risk of spark ignition is critical. The SPARK COOLER ® is a simple and effective product for inclusion on process systems that reduces the frequency of sparks reaching the filter media.

How It Works
This product increases turbulence in the flow stream – by creating enough turbulence in the gas stream, the protective thermal bubble surrounding the spark can be broken up. Without this bubble, the lower temperatures in the gas stream will extinguish the spark, thereby promoting improved operation of the exhaust/filtration system.
